The cabbage salesman from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Poor guy is just trying to make a living, but bad luck just seems to find him wherever he goes. And Waspinator from Transformers: Beast Wars. A living chew toy essentially with how often he gets blown to pieces or fed the short end of the stick. Even when he is eventually given a break, being worshipped by primitive humans like a god, or being converted into a cool, brooding biker bot in Thrust, the world really does have a way of biting him in the thorax eventually. The universe really does hate Waspinator...

I mean, he is funny, very funny so I still like him and I can see them elaborating more about his personality without taking away his edge in the future.

I will say, getting a desired effect doesn't automatically make something good. For example: Geoffrey from GOT. He's a bad guy! The writing makes it clear the audience isn't supposed to like him, but I genuinely lost interest in the show at some point because the character was such a drag to watch. Sure, they didn't want me to like him and I didn't, but he genuinely made the show less entertaining because I just wanted to skip every scene with him in it. You can go too far and make a character so unlikeable they're no longer fun to watch, which can drag down the product as a whole. I don't think Jax is that in this case, I never felt like the quality of TADC was made any better or worse by him, but you can very much get the desired effect and that not be a sign of good or entertaining writing, especially because it's very easy to make an unlikeable character.

To me, movies like the Mario Movie should strike a middle ground when presenting their story, appealing to newcomers and fans, instead of the former, because what we get is just lazy references that break the story in half because that's what the fans would want. The Rainbow Road scene is singly the worst in the film simply because Bowser and his goons did not bother abducting them one by one until the very end, because we need that reference. Faithful or not these references and easter eggs have to make sense in their universe or it comes across as desperate. And I frankly do not care if I am alone on this. Because saying it's made for the fans comes across as insulting to me because it comes across like fans would accept whatever garbage is given to them, because of their loyal fans. No, thank you. The bottom line is the Mario Movie is fundamentally flawed in every aspect, with this overuse of references used as an excuse being a morning sentiment to me. Fight me.

This film was a huge disappointment. They could have gone down the Ducktales 2017 route where they have every single Disney cartoon in the late '80s and '90s live in the same universe, with all the other properties but have them as the vocal point. But no. This was just Disney's WB's Space Jam 2 where they flex their muscles on how many properties they own. Disgraceful.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit would always be the best cartoon live action cross over. Because it incorporates everyone and does not put them at the waistline for celebrities who can't voice act to save their skin, especially when the proper VA is in this film, but refuses to use her. That and the Peter Pan back story is tasteless in my opinion.
